SMS is seeking a Sr. ArcGIS Administrator in Fort Belvoir, VA to support the DTRA Program. As a member of our high-performing team, you will be responsible for maintaining and upgrading enterprise GIS software, services, and web applications. This role includes ensuring the optimal performance of the ArcGIS infrastructure, providing user support, and troubleshooting complex GIS issues. You will collaborate with IT professionals and GIS system users to advance GIS initiatives that help the program meet the evolving needs.

 

We are looking for a forward-thinking professional with these key required skills: ArcGIS Enterprise Administration, Relational Databases (Oracle and/or PostgreSQL, Scripting (Python, PowerShell), Windows Server Administration, Incident/Ticketing System (ServiceNow, Jira).

Responsibilities

 

  • Provide operational support and maintenance for Esri ArcGIS Enterprise environments, including Esri Portal and ArcGIS Server.
  • Design and implement solutions for complex technical challenges that affect multiple areas or disciplines.
  • Support the currently deployed Esri product suite as well as all future releases of Esri product lines.
  • Upgrade ArcGIS Enterprise systems to the applicable or latest versions.
  • Perform ArcGIS software patching for systems.
  • Assist the organization with any ArcGIS software requirements and troubleshoot GIS software issues to ensure full functionality.
  • Collaborate with various programs to integrate data from other systems of record, supporting customer requirements and advancing GIS initiatives.
  • Communicate with internal team members across multiple areas and client team members.
  • Ensure all data is secured and accessible only as appropriate, in compliance with agency policies and privacy laws.
  • Document and manage all application user guides, work processes, server configurations, enterprise architecture settings, and GIS database connections/accounts.
  • Understand and apply the ArcGIS Products Life Cycle.
  • Provide technical insight and recommendations to help determine GIS policies, objectives, and potential GIS software purchases.
  • Formulate implementation options, conduct research, and convert strategies into actionable plans with defined timetables and deadlines.
  • Work with the team to accomplish daily objectives, making a significant impact on operational outcomes or project deliverables.
  • All other duties as assigned or directed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and 8 – 12 years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 6 – 10 years of prior relevant experience. May possess a Doctorate in technical domain. Additional years of experience may be substituted in lieu of degree.
  • 4 years’ combined experience with ArcGIS administration, geospatial data, analysis, maps, services, and applications.
  • 2-3+ years of Windows Server experience.
  • 2-3 years of experience with web server management and implementation; troubleshooting of websites, applications, and security implementations.
  • 3+ years’ combined experience with SQL and Python.
  • Must hold a Top Secret/SCI Clearance
  • Must have an IAT Level II certification
