Seeking a candidate with experience designing and deploying IP networks in a large-scale campus and/or data-center environment.  Candidate must be able to develop LAN/WAN architecture, configure and maintain layer 2 and layer 3 network hardware, design and manage IP subnet schemes, and implement network security using network authentication and management tools. Candidates must exhibit strong communication, collaboration, as well as time and project management skills.  The position requires documentation of problems, resolutions, and processes for assigned tasks; participation in testing and evaluation of new technologies; and adherence to policies and procedures for change and incident management.  This is a position that focuses on customer-facing (production) infrastructure.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and maintain secure LAN/WAN network infrastructures to support enterprise operations.
  • Configure and manage Layer 2/3 network devices, including routers and switches; oversee IP subnetting and routing schemes.
  • Monitor network systems for alerts, alarms, and anomalies to ensure optimal performance and uptime.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex network issues; escalate unresolved problems as appropriate.
  • Maintain compliance with DoD and local security mandates by applying required STIGs, IOS upgrades, patches, and configurations.
  • Implement and support network access controls and authentication mechanisms in accordance with organizational security policies.
  • Interface with vendors to resolve outages and service degradation; coordinate Authorized Service Interruptions (ASIs) as directed.
  • Document technical procedures, troubleshooting steps, and configuration standards to support knowledge sharing and audit readiness.
  • Participate in evaluation, testing, and deployment of new networking technologies; contribute to change and incident management processes.
  • Support ongoing operations and special initiatives as assigned by site leadership.
  • Serve in an on-call rotation to provide after-hours support for critical production network environments.
  • Act as a technical liaison in customer-facing production infrastructure environments, ensuring high availability and client satisfaction.
  • Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior network personnel and assist in cross-functional collaboration efforts.

Qualifications

  • Eight years of progressively responsible network engineering hands-on experience.  
  • Demonstrated knowledge and hands on experience with LAN/WAN setup, TCP/IP protocol, routing/switching configurations and firewall technologies.
  • Experience with Cisco routing/switching platforms and operating systems.
  • Experience in implementing converged networks to include VoIP and VTC utilizing QoS.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex network issues such as hardware failures, WAN/LAN connectivity, and layer 2 and 3 configuration problems.
  • Knowledge of network authentication methods and technologies, experience with Cisco ISE or similar is preferred.
  • Prior experience with enterprise incident and change management systems.
  • VoIP component configuration and deployment experience is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of secure network architectures and encryption technologies preferred.
  • General knowledge of systems and enterprise storage technologies.
  • Active DoD Secret clearance required; preferred Top Secret with SCI eligibility
  • DOD 8140 IAT II SEC+CE or greater is required
  • Requires either a vendor network certification or CompTIA Net+ certification
