Overview

The Software License Manager (SLM) position is responsible for managing and optimizing the purchase, deployment, maintenance, utilization, and disposal of software applications within the Air Force Research Laboratory Phillips Research Site (AFRL PRS) at Kirtland AFB in Albuquerque, New Mexico.  The candidate will work within a mixed team of Department of Defense (DoD) civilians and DoD contractors. This position requires the individual to possess an IT background, so he or she can assist AFRL PRS customers in troubleshooting and resolving various problems with software installations. Support provided is governed by Service Level Agreements (SLAs) in place with the AFRL customer which are defined within the IT services contract. The ability to interface well with customers at various levels of seniority is essential to success in this position, as are excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for managing and optimizing the purchase, deployment, maintenance, utilization, and disposal of software applications within the Air Force Research Laboratory Phillips Research Site (AFRL PRS) at Kirtland AFB in Albuquerque, New Mexico. 
  • Work cohesively within a mixed team of Department of Defense (DoD) civilians and DoD contractors.
  • Manage overall Software Asset Management (SAM) to reduce IT software costs
  • Answer customer inquiries to provide general support related to software requirements within the various AFRL divisions
  • Create, updates and closes out software request tickets within the AFRL ticketing system. Experience with ServiceNow a plus
  • Work with other Tier 1/2 Support staff to ensure all SLM requests are properly coordinated and completed within contract defined Service Level Agreements (SLAs)
  • Maintain required documentation of SLM processes and SOPs

Qualifications

  • Familiarity with Microsoft products to include Windows Operating systems, Office365, MS Teams, and SharePoint On-line
  • Familiarity with various software licensing models such as Perpetual, Subscription based, Concurrent, & Floating
  • Experience with the ServiceNow Discovery and SAM modules a major plus
  • Experience leveraging script/automation tools to perform unattended software installations a major plus (example, MS Powershell & SCCM)
  • Possess the ability to adapt well to diverse environments and work collaboratively in a dynamic team setting
  • Overall understanding of Software Asset Management (SAM) to reduce IT software costs
  • Experience installing both Government Off the Shelf (GOTS) and Commercial Off the Shelf (COTS) software on both Windows and Linux operating systems
  • Applicant must possess refined critical thinking skills, should be a self-starter, dependable and reliable. 
  • Role may require directing other team activities and will require an individual who is diplomatic, capable of multi-tasking, anc can adapt to a dynamic environment.
  • Prior experience in a government consulting services environment is preferred.
  • Minimum DoD 8570 IAT-I + CE certification required
  • Active DoD Secret clearance is required, or clean background for the ability to obtain an interim Secret clearance
