Overview

The IT Project Manager will be responsible for assisting with the daily oversight and management of all projects/tickets/tasks assigned to the IT Solutions team and communicate status updates to the Lead IT Project Manager.  Will ensure the proper assignment of the IT Solutions team members for project work on assigned projects in the queue. Very hands on leader with successful record for delivering IT projects within the DoD environment. The IT Project Manager shall have a strong understanding of ITIL best practices and the use of Microsoft Project to drive project initiatives to completion.  Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and communicate effectively with other team members.

Responsibilities

Position Duties:

  • Assists with coordinating the development tasks, documentation, and metrics to deliver IT related solutions in support of Tech refresh activities on base.
  • Must have experience in managing and delivering IT projects within the DoD environment.
  • Collaborate with customers, partners and vendors to develop strategies and solutions of high business value for our customer and for our company.
  • Coordinate and facilitate sprint planning meetings, daily stand-ups, reviews, retrospectives and demos.
  • Have the ability to take technical information and translate it to understandable terms and examples.
  • Empower team to be fully functional and productive by working in close cooperation across roles and functions, internal and external to the technology team.
  • Review and recommend solutions to remove barriers to incremental progress and shield the team from external interference.
  • Promote continuous improvement by frequent operational reflections.
  • Enable a culture of tackling difficult questions; lead the team to resolve issues by engaging full participation and including other stakeholders when necessary.
  • Share responsibility for quality of work delivered by his/her team. Hold him/herself and the team accountable.
  • Review and recommend viable and best approach to agile practices, seek out and incorporate the latest best practices for implementation of the team.
  • Instill a sense of urgency and integrity in team, along with a sense of team ownership towards commitments.
  • Coach the team on the estimation process. May also participate in the estimation during the planning meeting.
  • Help the team assess their current executions and foster the mindset of continuous improvement.

  • A proven track record of using project management and agile best practices to capitalize on business opportunities and deliver projects on time and on budget, consistently.
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Project, Visio, and all Office Tools

Qualifications

Position Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience in Project Management, Business, Computer Science, Technology, or related field required.
  • PMI Agile Certified Practitioner (ACP) - Required ; PMP Certification – Preferred
  • DoD TS/SCI Clearance – Required
  • IAT Level II – Sec+ - Required

Experience:

  • Minimum 3-5 years of related work experience of successfully implementing IT solutions, Tech refresh activities and IT related projects using Agile methodologies in a government environment.
  • Ability to work with multiple program/project managers to drive successful project implementations.
  • Balanced business/technical background
