Manages the publications necessary to support the operation, maintenance, physical installation, developmental and operational testing, and deployment for all assigned items, including their systems, subsystems, component parts, accessories, etc. Assists in collecting and organizing information required for preparation of user manuals, training materials, installation guides, proposals, and reports. Reviews, edits, functional descriptions, system specifications, user manuals, special reports, or any other deliverables and documents, including the selection of various illustrations in the text, incorporating approved Engineering Change Proposals (ECP), Department of the Army (DA) 2028s, etc., prior to final printing.
Analyzes information gathered from multiple sources, selects the specification format best suited for the target audience of the publication, and produces resulting documentation with the utmost quality and clarity. Conducts research and ensures the use of proper technical terminology. Translates technical information into clear, readable documents to be used. Assures that the master documentation is maintained in an accurate manner and provides documentation to other installations, upon request. Examines incoming work to assure that adequate, complete information and data are provided for processing documents and assists in the input of missing documentation. Monitors status of all work products and ensures that the data used has been accepted by the Quality Assurance team.
Develops contract data package information containing requirements for acquisition of complex publications programs including type of manual required, etc. Provides advice and guidance to resolve complicated discrepancies and/or with regard to the preparation of technical manuals, throughout the course of the publication preparation.
Confers with various subject matter experts, such as development and maintenance engineers, item managers, project managers, illustrators, equipment specialists, etc., and obtains all other available sources of information for the preparation/review of illustrations and publications. Participates with equipment specialists, engineers and field personnel, etc. in the verification/validation of publications at various sites.
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience
5-8 years of Gov't environment
Proficiency in MS Word, Outlook, and Power Point required
