    Responsibilities

    This candidate will help support custom enterprise applications that operate on Linux operating systems.  Support activities include installing, configuring, and maintaining Linux operating systems within the AFRL organizations and its Branches. Analyzes and resolves problems associated with the operating system's servers, hardware, applications, and software. Monitors systems performance and ensures compliance with security standards.  The Systems administrator should have experience in supporting large enterprise environments by administering and maintaining Linux operating systems servers, virtual environment and SAN systems. Create and maintain documentation to include rack diagrams, design documentation, processes/procedures, environment diagrams, etc.

     

    • Install new/rebuild existing servers and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. in accordance with client and project requirements
    • Experience with Redhat Linux and other flavors of Linux
    • Install and configure new systems
    • Develop and maintain installation and configuration procedures
    • Perform systems monitoring to verify availability and integrity of hardware and server resources.
    • Perform backup operations as needed
    • Handle ongoing maintenance e.g., hot fixes, software upgrades, etc.
    • Shell scripting experience
    • Knowledge of PERL and other programming experience
    • Familiar with centralized configuration management tools like Puppet
    • Candidate should be familiar with Systemd
    • Previous experience with ACAS and HBSS a plus
    • Previous cluster development or HPC experience a plus
    • Experience in establishing and maintaining relationships with business stakeholders/users
    • Follow policies and procedures for change and incident management.
    • Experience supporting a DoD environment
    • Excellent application integration troubleshooting skills and the ability to diagnose system problems
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills
    • Proven team building and leadership capabilities
    • Strong customer facing skills
    • Ability to establish a solid working relationship with the customer, technical staff, managers, peers and teaming partners.

     

    Qualifications

    5 to 8 years of experience in administering Linux systems is required.  Applicant must possess refined critical thinking skills, should be a self-starter, may direct the activities of other team members, diplomatic, multi-task capable, adaptive to a dynamic environment, dependable and reliable.  Prior experience in a government consulting services environment is preferred.

     

    Qualifications/Certifications Requirements

    • Active DoD Secret clearance required
    • Minimum DoD 8570 IAT-II (Sec+ CE) certification required
    • Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE), Red Hat Certified Systems Administrator (RHCE), Red Hat Certified Architect (RHCA) preferred
