Position requires a talented Network/Systems Engineer who has relevant experience in enterprise infrastructure deployments and architectures supporting network routing and load balancing configurations, preferably F5 Load Balancing and Big-IP technologies. The Chief Engineer will lead the technical engagements and play a key role developing recommendations based on the customer requirements. The chief engineer is responsible to ensure that the technical solutions meet PWS and mission requirements as well as successful migrations and acceptance. The Chief Engineer will act as the liaison and support as necessary F5 vendor installation teams. The Chief Engineer will support overall integrated master scheduling, assist in prioritizing deployment and migration schedules, and coordinate site level system testing and acceptance process and contract deliverables. The scope of work includes a technical refresh effort for the installation and configuration of F5 Load Balancers, replacing existing Cisco ACE Load Balancer devices that are currently installed at AF installations. Anticipated work effort will consist of installation and replacement of 74 load balancers at 23 AF installations, including a testing facility at Hanscom AF Integration Test Facility (ITF).


  • Oversee the development, installation and migration of new F5 Load balancing hardware, software, and configuration migration
  • Support Install and configuration of operating systems and other software and routinely test installed software for glitch detection and other issues
  • Provide technical direction to engineering teams and support staff
  • Ensure constant availability of technical resources based on agree installation schedules
  • Participate and ensure AFLMC/HNI Technical Order Development and processes for PIR, CIR and Test Readiness Reviews are followed as directed and associated documentation is completed
  • Participate and ensure certification and accreditation processes are followed and compliant as required for the F5 load balancers security posture as required by the C&A or A&A process of DoD Information Assurance Certification and Accreditation Process (DIACAP) and Risk Management Framework (RMF)
  • Proactively ensure the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability
  • Ensure all technical contract deliverables are developed and delivered
  • Liaise with vendors and other IT personnel for coordination and collaboration

  • 5+ years’ experience in system engineering and IT support required
  • Proven track record of success in installation and maintenance of enterprise environments
  • Experience creating and maintaining deployment schedules
  • Relevant networking skills and knowledge
  • Experience and understanding of system load balancing technologies
  • Proven working experience in installing, configuring and troubleshooting network systems and environments.
  • Solid experience in the administration and performance tuning of network configurations and load balancing application
  • Solid networking knowledge (OSI network layers, TCP/IP)

Clearance/Certification Requirements

  • Possess a DoD Secret Security Clearance
  • IAT Level II certification.
