Job Summary

The ideal candidate provides exchange, server hardware, SAN, operating system and application support to the Gov't user community by administering and engineering a high performance and reliable infrastructure.  The Systems Engineer should have experience in supporting large enterprise environments by administering and maintaining MS based servers, Exchange, virtual environment and SAN systems.  The candidate must be able to exhibit strong communication, collaboration, as well as time and project management skills. This position focuses on customer-facing production systems infrastructure.

Responsibilities

  • Install new/rebuild existing servers and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. in accordance with client and project requirements.
  • Experience with Windows 7 and 10, windows servers running file/print/web services (IIS), NetBackup & SQL server Database support
  • Install and configure new systems
  • Develop and maintain installation and configuration procedures
  • Perform systems monitoring to verify availability and integrity of hardware and server resources.
  • Perform backup operations as needed
  • Support the VMware ESX environment
  • Knowledge and experience with large Active Directory environments and configurations
  • Handle ongoing maintenance e.g., service pack installations, hot fixes, software upgrades, etc.
  • Scripting/automation skills (e.g. VB Script) and experience with WMI strongly preferred
  • Have a general knowledge of network and enterprise storage technologies.
  • Participate in the implementation of agreed upon solutions and strategies.
  • Troubleshoot technology issues, using various internal and external resources.
  • Generate innovative approaches and solutions to recurring tasks or problems.
  • Document technical problems, resolutions, and processes for assigned tasks and projects.
  • Participate in testing and evaluation of new technologies to ensure compatibility and functionality.
  • Follow policies and procedures for change and incident management.

Qualifications

  • Three to eight years of progressively responsible Systems engineering hands-on experience with Windows and VMWare platforms. Candidates should have technical experience in all of the following areas: Microsoft Windows Server 2K8/2012/2016 and database (Oracle/MS SQL 2005+).  Individual must have high degree of skills with the MS Office toolsets.
  • Applicant must possess refined critical thinking skills, should be a self-starter, may direct the activities of other team members, diplomatic, multi-task capable, adaptive to a dynamic environment, dependable and reliable. 
  • Prior experience in a government consulting services environment is required.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in a Business Management or MIS related field is preferred.

 

Certifications

SEC+CE and another System certifications required.
