Responsibilities

SMS is seeking an energetic, people oriented Human Resources Assistant to join our growing HR Team.

  • Assist in the on-boarding and orientation of new employees
  • Ensure new hire transition onto new contract is smooth and track contract requirements/procedures
  • Maintain information in HRIS Database
  • Assist in overseeing the annual performance evaluation process
  • Assist with maintaining Affirmative Action Logs and Reports
  • Monitor and track Employee Improvement Plans
  • Verify and track all 8570 Compliance Contracts and Employees
  • Monitor and setup goals for expiring certifications
  • Assist with EEO-1 and Vet-100 annual filings
  • Assist with worker’s compensation and disability claims
  • Enter and track all annual training reimbursement obligations
  • Coordinate training/conference registrations
  • Employee point of contact for HR and training questions
  • Work with sales/proposal team/PM with Talent Management Reports
  • Field new hire and employee training questions
  • Manage annual required training (Ethics, Sexual Harassment, Security Briefings, etc.)
  • Work with Director of Operations to assist with vendor partnership requirements
  • Administrative functions such as organizing personnel files, formatting SMS resumes, ensuring policy compliance
  • Assist in management of summer internship program

Qualifications

  • Excellent organization skills
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Good multi-tasking skills
  • 1-3 years Human Resource experience preferred
  • Experience with ADP / WorkforceNow a plus
  • College degree in Human Resources, Business or Psychology
