Responsibilities

The position will sit in the IT Plans and Program section at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, TX,  Reponsiblities include:

 

  1. Analyzes, administers and maintains voice, video, and/or data communications networks.
  2. Manages the usage and performance of voice, video and/or data communications networks.
  3. Maintains network security and ensures compliance with security polices and procedures.
  4. Evaluates hardware and software, including peripheral, output, and related equipment.
  5. Participates in the development and implementation of network-related procedures and standards.
  6. Participates in and may lead aspects of major network installations and upgrades.
  7. Interfaces with vendors to ensure appropriate resolution during network outages or periods of reduced performance.
  8. Develops and implements testing strategies and document results.
  9. Provides advice and training to end-users.
  10. Troubleshoots and resolves complex problems.
  11. May provide work leadership to less-experienced network personnel.
  12. Maintains current knowledge of relevant hardware and software applications as assigned.
  13. Participates in special projects as required.
  14. Attend meetings and provide status briefings to Project Manager or Customer as required.
  15. Work with the Project Manager or Customer in developing solutions to customer requirements.

 

Specific Requirements include, but are not limited to:

-Ability to lead a small team of three other technicians providing network and systems support.

-Information Systems Support - Provide support to the following information systems, to include but not limited to, JWICS, NIPRNet, SIPRNet, NSANet, and Tier networks.

-Maintenance of Plant Cabling, Public Address Systems, and Telecommunications Construction Support also expected.  Ability to follow Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) and DoD directives. Conform to the following industry practices; Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA), Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL), Building Industry Consulting Service International (BICSI), National Electric Code, and International Organization of Standardization (ISO 9000).

 

Additional Responsibilities include the following:

-Systems Administration – Install, support, and maintain all computer systems and servers. Plan and respond to service outages and diagnose software and hardware failures to resolution. Provide system design and analysis. Implement and ensure security preventive measures are fully functioning.

-Install, test, maintain, upgrade and develop production and development servers and application software. Perform daily, weekly, and monthly scheduled backups on production and development systems to include, validation of backups, backup plan, disaster recovery plan and backup of data prior to ASI.

 

 

Qualifications

Required Certification: Security+  --  All personnel shall have at a minimum DoD 8570.01-M and 8140 approved and registered IAT Level II baseline certification, with preferred Security + certificate, at the time of Task Order start.  The certification shall be current, and verifiable.

 

The Task Order Team Lead shall have senior level experience and be well versed in Information Technology practices.

 

Education level, at a minimum, shall have a Bachelor’s Degree in Management or be an IT related degree.
