Responsibilities

  • Analyze, plan and support Transport Security devices during JRSS Base Migrations. (All DoD COI's)
    • Assist with network security assessments for potential internal and external business partners.
  • Design and implement remote connectivity solutions including but not limited to:
    • Firewalls
    • IPSec
    • VPN’s
  • Keep up to date with overall IT security knowledge of trends and changing technologies as they relate to Network Engineering and Information Security fields while utilizing experiences and industry trends to engage in migrations and the improvement of that process.
  • Monitor security system logs and reports.
    • Performs analysis of network security needs and contributes to design, integration, and installation of hardware and software.
  • Provide Level II/III support for problem requests escalated by the Help Desk or IT Operations and coordinate with our client’s personnel and vendors to resolve issues.
    • Mentor and coach less experienced IT professionals.
  • Provide on-call migration support during both business and non-business hours as established and in accordance with JRSS Policies and Procedures.
  • Utilize sniffers and other tools to troubleshoot and isolate network problems

Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge and understanding of both network and application layer firewall technologies and prior hands-on professional experience with Enterprise Class firewalls:
    • Cisco ASA
    • Palo Alto Firewalls
    • Juniper Firewalls
  • Ability to apply knowledge and experience to manage complex firewall policies that employ:
    • NAT
    • Application layer gateways
    • Policy based VPNs.
  • Understand tunnel mode and transport mode VPN technology and ability to plan migrations of main mode and aggressive mode VPNs on a variety of hardware platforms.
  • Demonstrated high level knowledge and understanding of the TCP/IP protocol such as TCP and UDP
  • Previous experience utilizing sniffer products to decode network traffic to solve complex application issues.
  • Advanced functional understanding of network routing and switching technology for the purpose of solving connectivity problems; specifically within a firewalled environment.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work independently on projects and prepare equipment for deployment in the corporate data centers and at remote locations.
  • Working knowledge of network security, intrusion detection systems, authentication mechanisms, encryption technologies, and networking protocols including but not limited to:
    • SMTP
    • HTTP
    • DNS
    • TCP/IP
    • SNMP.
  • Experience with both Agency and Base level FWs, Clients SSL VPNs, Reverse Web Proxies, Web Content Filters as well as element managers for CIisco Secuirty, JUNOS Space, Panorama, Red Seal, Cisco ACS and Splunk.

Preferred Technical Qualifications:

  • Professional certification in either vendor specific or industry standards in network or information security such as, but not limited to:
    • CCNP
    • CISSP
    • CCIE
    • Cisco Firewall Security Specialist
    • PCNSE
  • Ability to manage Juniper firewalls and firewall policies using Juniper NSM central management software.
  • Recent experience working with Palo Alto Networks.
  • Hands on experience with Check Point Security Software
  • Linux experience is a plus.
