SMS is supporting JSP Engineering in a range of IT service support areas. The SMS team provides exchange, server hardware, SAN, operating system and application support to the JSP user community by administering and engineering a high performance and reliable infrastructure. The Sr. Systems Engineer should have experience in supporting large enterprise environments by administering and maintaining MS based servers,, virtual environment and SAN systems. The candidate must be able to exhibit strong communication, collaboration, as well as time and project management skills. This position focuses on customer-facing production systems infrastructure.


    • Install new/rebuild existing servers and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. in accordance with client and project requirements.
    • Install and configure new systems
    • Develop and maintain installation and configuration procedures
    • Perform systems monitoring to verify availability and integrity of hardware and server resources.
    • Perform backup operations as needed
    • Support the VMware ESX environment
    • Knowledge and experience with Active Directory environments and configurations
    • Handle ongoing maintenance e.g., service pack installations, hot fixes, software upgrades, etc.
    • Scripting/automation skills (e.g. Powershell) and experience with WMI strongly preferred
    • Have a general knowledge of network, F5 and enterprise storage technologies.
    • Participate in the implementation of agreed upon solutions and strategies.
    • Troubleshoot technology issues, using various internal and external resources.
    • Generate innovative approaches and solutions to recurring tasks or problems.
    • Document technical problems, resolutions, and processes for assigned tasks and projects.
    • Participate in testing and evaluation of new technologies to ensure compatibility and functionality.
    • Follow policies and procedures for change and incident management.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills as well as the ability to work independently as required.


Five to eight years of progressively responsible systems engineering with experience in mid-to-large enterprise or data center environments. Candidate should have experience performing in a system administrator role for a minimum of 5+ years. Candidates should have technical experience in all of the following areas: Microsoft Windows Server 2K3/2K8/2012, network infrastructure (Cisco), and database (Oracle/MS SQL 2005+). Individual must have high degree of skills with the MS Office toolsets.


Applicant must possess refined critical thinking skills, should be a self-starter, may direct the activities of other team members, diplomatic, multi-task capable, adaptive to a dynamic environment, dependable and reliable. Prior experience in a government consulting services environment is preferred.




Bachelor’s degree in a Business Management or MIS related field.
