The SMS team provides system and application support to a government customer by administering and engineering a high performance and reliable infrastructure.  The Sr. Systems Engineer should have experience in supporting large enterprise environments by administering and maintaining MS based servers, virtual environment and systems.  The candidate must be able to exhibit strong communication, collaboration, as well as time and project management skills. This position focuses on customer-facing production systems infrastructure.

  • Experience with Microsoft SQL 2008 Server, Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2
  • Install new/rebuild existing servers and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. in accordance with client and project requirements.
  • Install and configure new systems
  • Develop and maintain installation and configuration procedures
  • Perform systems monitoring to verify availability and integrity of hardware and server resources.
  • Perform backup operations as needed
  • Handle ongoing maintenance e.g., service pack installations, hot fixes, software upgrades, etc.
  • Scripting/automation skills (e.g. VB Script) and experience with WMI strongly preferred
  • Have a general knowledge of network and enterprise storage technologies.
  • Participate in the implementation of agreed upon solutions and strategies.
  • Troubleshoot technology issues, using various internal and external resources.
  • Generate innovative approaches and solutions to recurring tasks or problems.
  • Document technical problems, resolutions, and processes for assigned tasks and projects.
  • Participate in testing and evaluation of new technologies to ensure compatibility and functionality.
  • Follow policies and procedures for change and incident management.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills as well as the ability to work independently as required.



High School.  Bachelor’s degree in a Business Management or MIS related field is preferred
